Jackie Stiles Case Study

Jackie Stiles
http://www.jackiestiles.net

Jackie Stiles is a star guard on WNBA's Portland Fire basketball team. She was a Claflin High School (KS) standout and set the all-time Kansas record for points (boys or girls) in her 4 years at Claflin High.

Stiles went on to become an All-American at Southwest Missouri State University, where she set the NCAA Career Scoring Record of 3,393 points over four seasons, including 1,062 points her senior season.

In December of 1997, I decided to design a site that would enable her giant fan base to keep track of how she is playing at SMS. Originally, the site was geared towards her Kansas fans, but it has gained national recognition and has been been mentioned in ESPN The Magazine, USA Today, and the New York Times, and has also been the object of feature news stories on the local ABC and NBC television stations in Springfield, MO and Wichita, KS.

The site has been redesigned four times and continues to allow for ease of use. This page shows how the use of structured columns and tables can dramatically increase the professional appearance of a site.

The main idea I wanted to portray in the development of the site was structure. There are many links and articles on the site and I wanted to keep a structured appearance. This can be easily seen by viewing the "statistics" and "articles" portions of the site.
